Crazy! I was glad they were able to get all 33 miners out without any injuries or serious accidents. I saw a little footage on CNN and i cant imagine being over a half mile underground for almost 70 days. Incredible story.
In the beginning it wasn't sounding to good for them to have a quick rescue but they found out a way to get them out sooner than planned by the rescuers but I know them miners didnt mind that at all. There needs to be major improvements on other escape routes and equipment that can be used to help minors when they get trapped.
I couldn't believe how fast they got them out when the drilling was done. Wow. They must have had a lot of food down there I take it? That's smart on their part by having a place to retreat to if it was to ever happen and it did.
I think it's excellent marketing skills. I mean not only did they get free advertisement estimated to be worth 41 million dollars but they are actually helping out for a good cause and the people coming out of the mine probably didn't need $450 dollar sunglasses just to prevent possible eye damage but atleast their product was of legitmate use. For instance if Gucci started sending clothes that would probably look shady and unneccessary but the miners really could of damaged their eyes and oakleys were the first glasses company to respond with the idea. I think it was a wise choice also this has to boost the brands morale.
I was scared for the miners. I'm glad they all made it out alive. I didn't know much about it until a few days before they were rescued. The sunglasses thing was very clever. It's hard to tell if they were just being nice or they were really trying to put their product out there. You would think that it was just a nice thought. It worked out well for them no matter what the motive. It's all a little crazy
