Hey folks.. I just want everyone to read this and this regarding plagiarism. I've had a few papers lately that are written too closely to the source material.
We can make a discussion out of this too: before entering college, did your teachers define plagiarism for you and show you how to avoid it? Did they show you how to properly paraphrase and cite a source?
All of my English teachers went through it went us over the years but they all had their own ways of paraphrasing. I've always tried my very best to make sure I was paraphrasing the correct way and to put things into my own words. I usually try to pick out the important points or vocabulary and try to build around that.It probably wouldn't hurt to go over it again. If my paper was one of them, would you send me an email? I'm a worrier and I would like to fix any problems with my work. I know what's it like for people to take credit for my work and I don't want to do it to anyone else. That's my vow as an aspiring writer.
ReplyDeleteMy highschool teachers always taught me that as long as you sight your sources correctly and write the paper in your own words your good. I always try to paraphrase from sources and when i do direct quote i make sure the audience understand who the quote is coming from. Let me know if i did something wrong in my paper
ReplyDeleteYes it was discussed me senior year by our english teachers. They told us about copying to much an what wouldn't be exceptable by a college professor. We had a few writing workkshops before graduation also to help us deter from using plagarism.I read an use sources but I put it my own words
ReplyDeleteIn High school we only went over it briefly. Most of the time they told us to just put it in our own words instead of teaching us proper citation and things like MLA,APA formats. Also sometimes i forget the spots where there supposed to be placed.
