I think this is really interesting -- what implications are there in the ad industry with something like this?

  1. Well it definitely could mean a lot more variety in ads now days. The slate guys put up their ad..what did they say like 54 times? for $1,300. 1,000 people visited their website after their custom ad. I could pay 100 bucks to have my commercial aired one time. That's amazing. So many amateur websites or companies could take advantage of this and be more successful.

  2. like Chad said it will help smaller businesses get ad time. It is also is in a way cutting out the agency. This means people have direct access to the media.

  3. I agree with both of them. I know a lot of people who own small businesses that could really benefit from this. They could bring in a lot of new people by buying the air time.

  4. Giving a smaller business an market a easier way of being heard an seen to the same people as their competion. This is a way of leveling out the playing field in a way because if it was all about big money for airwaves an t.v. with no exceptions then they would never be able to compete with major companies an ext.

  5. I think it's good and bad because this means that small businesses and local places can get just as much coverage as corporation chains but it also means that t.v. could have even more junk advertising on it and we all know there's plenty of it and i like how he pointed out that t.v. ads use to be a prestigious thing. It seems that everyday that void between t.v. and internet is fading.

  6. After I watched this I actually couldn't help but laugh at the possibilities that are available to just any person. However that aside this feature is highly beneficial to small companies or even people promoting a foundation that is not that well known. Google has put a great idea out there, but I think it will eventually be abused.

  7. Yeah, the first thing I thought when I watched this was that it is going to go horribly wrong, as everything does when the internet and anonymity are involved. I hate poorly made local commercials much more than expensive ones, and I can see an influx of those. It is a neat idea if it is well policed and they have enough people working to make it very accessible and successful. I don't trust it yet though.
